The trees reveal their faces; each clan has its totem, each totem has its cry.

The Totems are a collaborative work by Patrick Portella and Ilias.
Patrick Portella defines himself as an exotic composer. He joined the group ZNR (Hector Zazou and Joseph Racaille) in 1976 and in 1979 became a member of the Gmem-National Center for Musical Creation in Marseille, where he served as composer-in-residence from 1981 to 2012.

The Totems are based on visual and musical archetypes: symmetries, repetitions, and variations on a simple basic element (a photograph of a few branches, a few bars of borrowed or original contemporary music). The Totems reveal multiple faces—animal or human? friendly or threatening? amidst which the viewer can wander as if in a forest with exotic vegetation filled with the cries or songs of unknown animals.

These videos can be projected on big screens (until 4 meters bright) and can offer an immersive experience. Please contact us if you are interested in this project and have a space which might be used for such projections.
